On Wednesday, January 13th Rowe Elementary School hosted Susan Dreyfus , president of the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities, as a keynote speaker. Susan spoke to the work that Rowe Elementary and Northwestern Settlement do as high impact work tasked with reducing the number of people living in poverty; increasing the number of people with opportunities to live healthy lives; and increasing the number of people with access to educational and employment success.
Using Susan’s expertise, Rowe and Settlement staff reflected on how our work impacts and is impacted by generational poverty. As a school, we engaged in a thoughtful reflection on our work with children and families, inspiring us to lead the way in innovative education in the Chicago community. We are lucky to have had the opportunity to partner with Susan and look forward to continuing our work as a Tier 1+ school striving to achieve excellence for all of our K-8 scholars.
